How long does SEO take for new pages in a website 2021?

This is a difficult question, it’s hard to answer.

All we can say is lift up your hands and tell that, "IT DEPENDS".

But let’s deep dive into it.

Let us focus on two parts here now:

1: INDEXING

2: HOW TO SPEED THINGS UP

Before that read at the “Disclaimers”:

DISCLAIMER:

1: There is no guarantee that Google or any other Search Engines will index any particular page, in fact most Search Engines don’t Index a lot of the content on the web.
On the one hand, there is a lot of duplicate content on the web that doesn’t need to be indexed.
On the other hand, there is a lot of content that is unlikely to ever be seen by users, So it’s not useful to index it.

2: Even when something is indexed, it’s. not necessarily shown to users and it can drop out of the index over time.

Let’s start now!!

When a new a page is published on a website.

a: It can take several hours to several weeks for it to be indexed. In practise, I suspect most of the good content is picked up and indexed with in a week.

b: Some times there are technical issues on the web that make it take longer and sometimes it’s just the systems of Search Engines are busy doing other things.

There are few things you can do to help speed these things up.

1: PREVENT SERVER OVERLOAD:

Make sure your server can handle a reasonable number of requests in a timely manner.

When your server slows down, Search Engines tend to slow down as well.

2: MAKE NEW INTERNAL LINKS PROMINENT:

Link to your new pages prominently within your website. The easier that Search Engine systems can recognise that you think is an important page, it’s easier for search engines to prioritise them for crawling and indexing of it.

For Example:

If your website is an e-Commerce, it helps the search engine systems to find the links to your new products on your home page, so that search engines have to crawl through several layers of categories to find them.

3: AVOID UNNECESSARY URLs ON YOUR SITE:

Avoid filling your website with unnecessary URLs, weather it’s an event calendar that goes back the dawn of civilisation or shop category pages that allow filtering and sorting by every possible combination, search engines can get bogged down trying to figure out all of these URLs, and might miss URLs that you do care about.

On dynamic websites like these, work to keep functionality open for users while preventing crawlers from getting lost.

Again, making it easy for Search Engines to recognise that your new pages are important.

4: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF URL SUBMISSION METHODS:

Please use URL submission methods available to you.

a: Use a sitemap to tell Search Engines about new pages automatically.

b: For individual URLs use the Inspect URL Tool form the Search Engine Tools like Google Search Console, Bing Webmasters. Etc.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

Keep your website’s quality high, taking a tip bak the easier it is for Search Engines to recognise that your website is critical for users on the web, the better they can prioritise the website for crawling and indexing.

This is easier said than done, of course. And just to get back to our disclaimer, forcing something to be indexed does not mean Search Engines will show it prominently in search and it does not mean that it will remain indexed.

The best ways to improve those parts is to make your site fantastic overall.

So, in short, there are a lot of aspects that come into play with making new pages visible in search engines.
There is no absolute timeline for any of these steps and they can change over time.
Apart form the technical issues, it’s also important to keep the overall quality of the website in mind.

Search Engines like Google wants to recommend fantastic content to users as quickly as possible, so it’s always worth on focusing on that.

That’s all for now, I hope you find this blog informative, useful and insightful.
